Are the novels better than the films?
I read the original novel after seeing the film, and it opened up an entire world of possibilities.

The second novel I read before seeing the second film, and I was surprised at how little the film maintained and how much they changed. I disliked the "dumbing down" of Sarah Harding; in the novel she's one of the most level-headed characters, but in the film she's rather cocky and short-term thinking.

(I still can't hide my contempt for her upsetting the Stegosaurus family, then scolding Nick for lighting up a smoke, claiming they should avoid influencing the animals and their habitat.)

The books and films complement each other. I can't pick one medium over the other.
